Scheduled backup of pocket pc
->
I have an iPaq and it serves me well
It was my best companion when I was in India.
My worst nightmare… when the device hangs (rarely)… and on restart (after removing the battery and putting it back) it starts afresh!!! eeks!!!
Especially when you are away from your workstation and cradle.
Lucky me, I had the trust cert for Outlook Mobile Access on the SD Card.
So the point to note : backup - backup- backup. Manual. Yes. So what’s the big deal? In this day and age of automation… you need to be smart and fast
So? At this stage, a search on Google for scheduled backup of pocket pc, did not really help.
So, I found this amazing treasure on my pocket pc 2003.Follow these steps and ensure that you SD card has enough space to backup - whatever you choose (just like in ntbackup.exe). Shall we start… aw come on!!!
Ok…
- Start
- Programs
- iPAQ Backup
- Options
- Switch To Advanced Mode (On selection, it will scan your system)
- Just like ntbackup.exe - it will show @ root PocketPC and then
- My Documents
- Personal Databases
- System Data
That’s it! I backup my PPC daily at 0000 hours…
I am happy! You should be too!!!
I don’t have WM5, so don’t know how different the steps are. Surely somewhere it would be better. I even installed a Virtual Network and WM5 Image in an emulator, but could not see option for backup!!!
If you have WM5, can you check out this feature and leave your comments?
