While I was away, our MOM2005 Server behaved itself. Except (yes, there is always something…) Alerts for Unix Syslogs, that I was just testing, tweaking. Since, I had to rush back to be with my dad, I obviously had no time nor any sense of situation. Least of all to disable the rule for Syslogs!!!
Well, now that I am back, I find that the half tuned Syslogs rule has generated 101000 alerts in my absence!!! I tried to select 25% and resolve them, no success. So the quest to search for a script, that can resolve all alerts for target computer.
If you have ever checked out my resources for MOM2005, you probably know, where I headed off too. It was MOM Community, got some scripts, did not get any results (I think I know why) and then finally I moved over to MOM Resources. Spot on! I got the script and I have launched the script. It will take couple of hours to auto resolve 101000 scripts. I launched the script at 1230 hours and I don’t expect it to finish atleast till end of the day!
Thanks to Pete Zerger and Justin Harter at MOM Resources
This is the script to resolve all alerts for a target computer. You just have to rename the txt file to a vbs file and then from command prompt run the script.vbs target computer fqdn. Thats it!
UPDATE: It took well over 48 hours to auto-resolve these alerts! Thank you Pete, once again. You saved me the BIG trouble and time, given that I would have to resolve these myself! eeks!
